Mirror on the Wall: Starting the Day with Me!

In a world that constantly tells people who they should be, I have learned the importance of taking a moment to simply appreciate who I already am.
Some mornings begin with stress, responsibilities, worries, and pressure. But other mornings begin differently. They begin with gratitude.
“Mirror on the wall, here I am standing tall.”
Those words remind me that before I can pour into others, chase dreams, lead organizations, support communities, or inspire young people, I must first recognize the value within myself.
Starting the day with me means:
Choosing self-love
Choosing healing
Choosing growth
Choosing peace
Choosing confidence
It means looking in the mirror and understanding that my journey, my struggles, my strength, and my story all matter.
Too often people spend their lives searching for validation from the outside world while forgetting to encourage themselves. But growth begins when we learn to speak life into our own reflection.
Some days standing tall may not look perfect. Some days it simply means getting out of bed, trying again, and refusing to give up. And that still matters.
At The Lillie Mae Parson Performing Arts Center and through the 🦋 Butterfly Club 🦋, we encourage young girls and young people to recognize their worth, embrace their uniqueness, and build confidence from within.
Because self-confidence is not built overnight — it is built through daily reminders that you are worthy, capable, and enough.
So today, take a moment for yourself.
Stand in front of the mirror.
Smile at your reflection.
Speak kindly to yourself.
Recognize your growth.
Celebrate your survival.
Appreciate your journey.
And remember:
“Mirror on the wall, here I am standing tall… today starts with me.”
